Josh Montgomery DVM

Owner and Veterinarian

Dr. Montgomery was born and raised in Washington - just north of Seattle. His love of animals was passed down by his mother, Robyn. Growing up, there was never a shortage of animals in the house and around the property. From exotic birds to horses, Josh’s family shared their lives with animals of all types.
As a teenager, Josh volunteered at a local veterinary hospital. He started out cleaning cages and walking dogs, but over the years, he gained knowledge and experience in the veterinary field that motivated him to follow his dream of becoming a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from WSU and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. He returned to WSU to complete his clinical year prior to graduating in 2007.

Over the last decade, Dr. Montgomery has worked as a general veterinary practitioner throughout the Greater Seattle area. His philosophy is based on educating clients and providing them with option-based care to help them choose what is best for their companions.

In his spare time, Josh is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys hiking, camping, running, skiing, surfing, and doing just about anything else that involves the mountains. He has a spirited Labrador retriever named Mick Jagger who frequently accompanies him on his adventures.

Dr. Montgomery dedicates Montgomery Mobile Veterinary Partners to the memory of his longtime canine companion, Maddie. Because of her relentless strength, loyalty, and friendship, she was - and continues to be - an inspiration to Josh.
Dr. Shana Kitchen

Dr. Shana Kitchen DVM

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Shana Kitchen was born in North Carolina and began working in the veterinary field in her teens.  She attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville for her undergraduate degree before moving to Colorado to attend Colorado State University for her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Kitchen has been practicing veterinary medicine in Colorado and Washington since 2014. She enjoys small animal general practice as it gives her the opportunity to get to know each of her clients and their pets. This allows her to implement distinct diagnostic and treatment plans specific to their individual needs.  She appreciates the privilege of helping care for her patients through all stages of life — from preventative puppy and kitten treatments to difficult end-of-life decisions. Her areas of interest include dermatology, nutrition, internal medicine, and pain management.

Outside of work, Shana enjoys spending time with her wife, Daniela, and their two kitties and dog, Jack, Pablo, and Hattie Mae.  She also enjoys anything that involves being outside, reading, art, live music, and the amazing foodie world of Seattle.

Austin Kroske

Office Administration & Veterinary Assistant

Born and raised in central Oregon, Austin had the beautiful pleasure of calling Bend and Redmond home. Cats, dogs, horses, pigs, and chickens have always been a part of his life, and since early childhood, he has always loved caring for and learning about animals.
In sixth grade, he had the pleasure of joining an amazing 4H group that changed his life’s path. Raising hogs proved to be both a challenge and a joy that made him realize just how rewarding hard work could be.

As the years have gone by, he has fallen in love with the great outdoors and appreciates the beauty of nature and the way a good hike can make any situation better. He also spent time working as a caregiver for the elderly with the main focus on dementia and Alzheimer’s patients. The job served as his most difficult and most rewarding occupation, and he claims that it changed his life in many incredible ways.

Today, Austin is honored to work alongside Dr. Josh Montgomery here at Montgomery Mobile Veterinary Partners. He loves getting to use his knowledge, education, and passion for animals as an office administrator and veterinary assistant. He is always looking for the next challenge and anticipates an inspiring future at Montgomery Mobile Veterinary Partners.

Mindy Van Tassel

Client Care Administrator

Mindy grew up in the beautiful village of Aniak, Alaska, where her love of animals and nature was cultured. From there, her family moved to South Dakota and became ranchers. Along with helping care for her family’s horses, cattle, chickens, and rabbits, she became involved in volunteer work at a local zoo.
As her passion for animals blossomed into a career, she became a zookeeper and cared for multiple species ranging from tigers and bears (oh my!) to reptiles, fish, and everything in between. She eventually met her husband, Tim, and they now have three beautiful daughters together.

The mountains called in 2012, and Mindy’s family moved west to Washington State with their two papillons, Flynn and Dutch. This move caused Mindy to become more heavily involved in the veterinary side of animal care. Her previous employment in an emergency animal hospital as a supervisor, veterinary assistant, and medical clerk has given her invaluable skills that she has brought with her to serve our clients here at Montgomery Mobile Veterinary Partners.

Tori Bailey

Veterinary Assistant

Growing up on the Eastside of the Greater Seattle Area, Tori had a love for animals from the very beginning. She also developed a passion for horses at a young age, and after years of taking riding lessons, Tori's parents gave her her first horse as a Christmas gift in 2005. While Beauty passed away in 2012, Tori's love for horses never left.
Tori spends much of the warmer months traveling to horse shows throughout the western United States with her team. She currently owns and breeds Gypsy Vanner horses. She has a small herd of five with two foals on the way (as of December 2021)! She also enjoys performing with her Irish band in Seattle and Tacoma-area pubs, as well as at local festivals and fairs during the summer.

Tori entered the veterinary field as a customer service representative at the beginning of 2015 and shortly afterward transitioned to working as a Veterinary Assistant. She is dedicated to expanding her knowledge and abilities with animal medicine and care to help improve the lives of both pets and their people.
